What is the difference between warm start and cold start?
Cold Start: Cold start refers to starting the CPU from power off,Current configuration is discarded and program processing begins again with the initial values. Warm Start: Warm start refers to restarting the CPU without turning the power off, Program processing starts once again where Retentive data is retained.
Warm-start IPL is typically invoked by a ROM-monitor or BIOS; some aspects of the hardware and processor configuration will have already been set up. With cold-start IPL, on the other hand, nothing has been configured or initialized — the CPU and hardware have just been reset.
Battery knowledge. A cold start in an internal engine refers to the start of operation without the cooling water and/or oil having been preheated beforehand and without pressure having been built up in the lubricating oil circuit beforehand or without sufficient oil reserves in the bearing points.
This is the fastest launch time because it is simpler and less intensive than a cold launch. During a warm start, your app performs some of the cold start tasks even if the process is already running in the background. For example, this could happen when a user backs out of your app but launches it again.
The TTFFs for a cold start is typically between 2 and 4 minutes, a warm start is 45 seconds (or shorter), and a hot start is 22 seconds (or only a few seconds). In older hardware where satellite search is slower, a cold start may take more than the full 12.5 minutes.
A cold start situation is when coolant, oil and water are in still position minimum 90 minutes before the start. Cold start does not refer to cold climate and outside temperature. It is called cold start because of oil and water lack in system before the start, and because of that it's harder to start the engine.
If you keep up with periodic oil changes and follow the tips above, cold starts will not harm your engine. However, if you don't change the oil frequently and insist on revving a cold engine to help warm it up, you are doing more harm than good.
There is still considerable condensation in the engine and exhaust system when starting a cold engine. This contributes to oil contamination and exhaust system corrosion.
Warming up your vehicle before you start your trip lowers your fuel economy—idling gets 0 miles per gallon. Colder air is denser, increasing aerodynamic drag on your vehicle, especially at highway speeds.
For older model vehicles it is recommended that you warm up your engine first before setting off. This especially applies to vehicles that still run on carburetors. However, if you have a modern engine with tighter tolerances and that uses electronic fuel injection, then you can choose not to warm up your engine.
What is the warm start?
Warm Start means start up after a shutdown period between 10 hours and 72 hours. “Cold Start” means start up after a shutdown period exceeding 72 hours.
Warm Launch — This is the type of launch where the application process and data exist in the system's memory and is then brought into the foreground. This is similar to killing the app and relaunch. Hot Launch — This launch happens when the app is brought to the foreground from the background or suspended state.

And finally – the cold start is when the GPS device dumps all the information, attempts to locate satellites and then calculates a GPS lock. This takes the longest because there is no known information.
To put it in very simple terms, GPS navigation tells you where you are and how to get to a destination. GPS tracking will show you where someone else is and where they have been. This is obviously very useful for businesses. For example, a lawn care company with several crews out in the field may use trackers.
A-GPS is faster in finding the location but GPS gives a more precise location information. While there is no additional cost involved in using GPS devices, an A-GPS has additional cost involved because it uses services and resources of the wireless carrier's mobile network.
Starting your engine on a cold day and immediately jumping on the highway is terrible for your engine. Letting your engine run for 30 seconds and then driving gently for several minutes will help bring it to the proper temperature.
Cold boot is also known as hard boot, cold start or dead start.
If you have a heated garage, use it. Even an unheated garage can help, and if you use it safely, a small electric or kerosene heater can fend off the cold. You can also buy an insulating cover to place over your hood to keep the engine heat in. Or you can try using a battery blanket to keep it warm.
Cold air is denser than warm air, so in cold weather the number of oxygen molecules entering the combustion chamber per unit volume of air is significantly greater than when the temperature is high. More oxygen provides better combustion, and hence a noticeable increase in power.
This is a perfectly normal occurrence. It is simply something your car needs to do so that it can start properly. You should not be concerned if your car jumps up to 1500 RPM and then shortly afterward goes back down to a normal 800 RPM.
Why are cold starts so loud?
When it is cold, more fuel is added to the air/fuel mixture to make up for the lack of natural vaporisation. So the AFR (air-fuel ratio) is seen by the ECU to be leaner than usual (below the Stoichiometric ratio of 14.7:1) so it compensates for this with extra fuel to make up for the unburned fuel due to the cold.
When you rev your engine, you place additional and unnecessary stress on your car and its engine. This is imperative when it's cold outside—revving your engine before it has had time to warm up is especially damaging, as the engine's oil hasn't had sufficient time to circulate and properly lubricate your car.
Why your car struggles to start but runs fine. There are a number of reasons why your car might be slow to start but runs as-normal once it gets going. Causes can vary from weather conditions to battery health, wiring issues, starter motor concerns and fuel-pump health.
Premium gas has a higher resistance to engine knock in luxury and performance vehicles with turbochargers or high-compression engines, so you can hit that horsepower smoothly. Additionally, premium gas can increase fuel efficiency, potentially bringing better gas mileage for longer while decreasing emissions.
Generally speaking, yes. Cruise control can help you become more fuel-efficient and can help you save an average of 7-14% on gas thanks to its ability to maintain a continuous speed. In comparison, the constant change in acceleration and deceleration of the driver placing their foot over the pedals can eat more gas.
When a cold engine is started, a component called the auxiliary fuel injector sprays additional fuel into the intake manifold. The extra fuel helps the engine start faster. But we also do not want the fuel-air mixture to be too rich. So, the throttle valve opens to raise the engine's idle speed.
Cold start. The region has not previously been started. When you specify that a CICS region is to be cold started, no attempt is made to recover any previously running transactions, and any data that is stored in the transient data queues and temporary storage queues is lost.
System IPL: Description of IPL types. Depending on the circumstances under which you want to start or restart z/OS®, you may use one of three types of initialization: Cold start, quick start, or warm start. The primary difference between the three types is whether or not certain storage is treated.
A warm start usually means that you're using the optimal solution of a related/simplified optimization problem to provide the initial values (guess) for the problem you actually care about.
A warm start restores certain elements of the CICS® components to the status that was recorded in the previous warm keypoint. The recorded status is determined from their definitions or commands rather than their actual status at shutdown.
What is the function of cold start?
Why is a cold start important? Getting into the technical side of things, a cold start not only lets your engine get up to temperature, but will also let the oil within get warmed up. Oil is a critical fluid in your motor as it keeps all the moving parts well lubricated and functioning optimally.
What is cold start? Broadly speaking, cold start is a term used to describe the phenomenon that applications which haven't been used take longer to start up. In the context of Azure Functions, latency is the total time a user must wait for their function.
Mainframes are highly suitable for specific types of organizations and processes. They have already integrated with other kinds of infrastructure and have adapted to every new era of technology. Hence, mainframe technology has come a long way and is far from obsolete.
There are three types of starting positions: bullet or bunch starts, medium starts, and elongated starts.
IPL (initial program load) is a mainframe term for the loading of the operating system into the computer's main memory .
Types of cold start
The cold start problem can be classified into three types depending on the source of the missing information: user cold start, item cold start, and system cold start.
Will cold starts harm my engine? Yes and no. If you keep up with periodic oil changes and follow the tips above, cold starts will not harm your engine. However, if you don't change the oil frequently and insist on revving a cold engine to help warm it up, you are doing more harm than good.
Cold start is a potential problem in computer-based information systems which involves a degree of automated data modelling. Specifically, it concerns the issue that the system cannot draw any inferences for users or items about which it has not yet gathered sufficient information.
What is CICS (Customer Information Control System)? CICS (Customer Information Control System) is middleware that sits between the z/OS IBM mainframe operating system and business applications. As an online transaction processing (OLTP) system, it is used to build customer transaction application programs.
A Warm Restart of a plc refers to restarting the CPU (from “Stop” to “Run”), in which program processing/execution is restarted at the beginning* but “Retentive data” is retained. However, all non-retentive bit memory and non-retentive variables are reset to their initial values from load memory.
What is SOS in CICS?
Short-on-storage conditions for 64-bit storage
CICS considers an SOS condition when storage from the storage cushion is in use, or at least one request is suspended because there is no contiguous area of storage large enough for it, or both of these conditions apply.
